National Pet Day is tomorrow (April 11), and it’s the perfect excuse to shower your furry best friend with love, adventure, and, of course, snacks! Whether you’re a dog person, a cat cuddler, or a fan of feathered or scaled companions, this day is all about honoring the unconditional joy our pets bring into our lives.

🐾 Adventure Awaits: Activities to Do With Your Pet

1. Go on a Pup-Cation (Mini Edition): Explore a new walking path, check out a dog-friendly patio, or take a scenic drive out to Red Rock with your co-pilot riding shotgun.

2. Plan a Backyard Picnic: Lay out a blanket, bring some toys, and pack snacks for both of you. Bonus points if you include homemade treats (recipes below!).

3. Book a Pet Spa Session: Try a mobile groomer or pamper your pup at Woof Gang Bakery & Grooming for a day of treats and trims.

4. Try a DIY Photo Shoot: Dress them up, grab some cute props, and snap away. Share their model moment using #NationalPetDay and #VegasPets!

🌴 Top Pet-Friendly Parks in Las Vegas

Las Vegas may be known for bright lights and casinos, but it’s also got some fantastic pet-friendly green spaces:

  • Barkin’ Basin Dog Park (Northwest Vegas): Multiple fenced play areas, agility features, and plenty of shady spots for a cool hangout.

  • Desert Breeze Dog Park (Spring Valley): Well-maintained turf, separate small and large dog areas, and great people-watching for social pups.

  • Sunset Dog Park (Henderson): Located inside Sunset Park, this off-leash area has plenty of room to zoom and explore.

  • Charlie Frias Park: Less crowded, with beautiful views and pet-friendly trails for a calmer outing.

  • Lorenzi Park: Gorgeous walking paths, duck ponds, and a relaxed vibe for low-key strolls.

🍪 Homemade Treats to Make Together

1. Peanut Butter Banana Bites

  • 1 banana

  • 1/2 cup peanut butter (xylitol-free)

  • 1 cup oats

  • Blend and roll into balls. Chill and serve!

2. Frozen Apple & Greek Yogurt Pupsicles

  • 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce

  • 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt

  • Freeze in silicone molds for a cool treat.

3. Chicken & Sweet Potato Biscuits

  • 1 cup mashed sweet potato

  • 1 egg

  • 1/2 cup shredded cooked chicken

  • 1 1/2 cups oat flour

  • Mix, roll out, cut into shapes, and bake at 350°F for 20 minutes.

💬 Celebrate the Love

Whether you're hitting a local park, baking a batch of treats, or snuggling on the couch, National Pet Day is all about appreciating the bond we share with our companions. Give them an extra belly rub, a few more treats, and a whole lot of love tomorrow, because they deserve it.
